NIPPER PROGRAM INFORMATION
What is Nippers?
Nippers is a program designed to teach children between the ages of 5 and 13 years of age, the fundamentals of surf beach and open water safety.
It is a National Surf Education program structured specifically to the ages and abilities of the children by gradually teaching them basic lifesaving skills required to be safe around an aquatic environment as well as developing their skills to compete in surf sports.
The aim is to develop surf awareness, surf skills and water safety in an environment which is fun, encouraging and SAFE.
Nippers are split into Age group’s from Under 6’s (must be 5 by September 30) to Under 14’s (must be 13 by September).
Each Age Group is run by one or two of our many dedicated Age Managers and their assistants. The Age Managers are assisted by specialist coaches (our volunteer actives) who coach them in the areas of sprints, boards, wading and swimming.
