Competition is offered in a number of different disciplines that not only assists members with maintaining their surf skills but also provides children with a regular physical activity that incorporates fun and teamwork.
Events for nippers aged U8 to U13 involve swimming, board paddling, and running. Nippers can also participate in team events that incorporate a number of these disciplines and may also begin to learn the basics of rescue techniques.
One Nippers session of the program is allocated to our Club Championships.
Nippers have an Inter Club competition calendar each season culminating in the Victorian State Titles. Once the calendar for the 2020-21 season is share by LSV, it will be advised.
Venus Bay SLSC is committed to being inclusive, and children of all standards are welcome to take on the challenge of competing at carnivals. The Preliminary Assessment is a requirement for Nippers. Sessions for the Competition Skills evaluation which is required for U9-U11 competing in water events and all U12+, will be scheduled over the season and advised once set.
The club cap and hi-vis vest must be worn at every carnival. In addition, a hat and long sleeve top must be worn when competitors are not competing for sun protection.
There is a cost associated with competing in inter-club carnivals. Once fees for the 2020-21 season are know they will be advised. The cost for the 2019-20 season was $30 for an inter-club carnival and $46 for the Victorian State Titles.
