About Us

Welcome to the Venus Bay Surf Lifesaving Club. The club was established in 1961 and has been patrolling beach #1, rated one of the most dangerous beaches in Victoria, over the last 50 plus years. In that time we have performed over 1,000 rescues, 20,000 preventative actions and over 100,000 volunteer patrol hours.

As a club we take pride in our family friendly and inclusive culture and welcome all new members. Over summer we hold numerous social and fundraising events building a sense of community and raising much need funds for the club.

Our group of dedicated actives patrol beach #1 each weekend and public holidays from late November until Easter Monday.

In addition we run a very successful nippers program for 6 – 13 year olds beginning just after Boxing Day. The program teaches the kids important surf skills as well as creating a wonderful social environment for lasting friendships.

For those interested in competition there is the option to compete in carnivals in beach events (running & beach flags), water competition (swimming, boards & ironman).….you can even give surfboat rowing a go.

The club is run by volunteers and all of our funds need to be sourced via grants, the generosity of our sponsors, donations or through other means of fundraising. Without this support we would be unable to provide the vital service to the Venus Bay community.

See you on the beach!
